Eshel prison

Israeli authorities allowed Monday scores of families of Gaza prisoners to visit their sons in Eshel prison in southern Israel.

As many as 31 family members, including three children, headed for the prison via Erez crossing to visit 32 detainees, said spokeswoman for the Red Cross Sohair Zakout said in press statements.

Around 6,000 Palestinians are jailed in Israeli prisons, including 400 from the Gaza Strip.

Israel has resumed family visit program for the Gaza Strip prisoners after a six-year suspension following the signing of an agreement between the Palestinian Captive authorities and Israeli prison administration after the prisoners started a hunger strike lasted for 28 days in April of 2012.
