A fishing vessel exploded when it was intercepted by the Indian Coast Guard near the maritime border with Pakistan, officials and news reports said Friday.
Indian authorities hailed the boat around midnight late Wednesday about 365 kilometres south-west of the Gujarat port of Porbunder, dpa quoted the Defence Ministry as saying.
After a brief pursuit, the boat stopped, the crew disappeared below deck, and a fire broke out followed by a large explosion, it said.
