Hunger strike of Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails enters day 21

The hunger strike observed by more than 1,600 Palestinian detainees held in Israeli jails has entered its 21st day while the health condition of most of them has deteriorated.

The Media Committee of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' society said on Saturday that there are no official negotiations with the prisoners who had launched a hunger strike.

The hunger strike was joined by leading Palestinian political figures Marwan Barghouti and Ahmed Sa'adat as well as other Palestinian leaders imprisoned in Israeli jails.

The hunger strike was held in protest against the policy of medical negligence, detention without charge or trial, unfair trials and prevention of family visits by the Israeli prison authorities.
