Gaza families

Israeli authorities have allowed scores of relatives of prisoners from the Gaza Strip to visit them at Eshel desert prison in southern Israel.

As many as 35 family members have headed for Erez border crossing from where they will be transported to Eshel Prison, said a spokeswoman for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The ICRC coordinates jail visits on Mondays with the Israeli authorities.

There are around 6,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. Of them, 400 are from the Gaza Strip
