Israel allows Gaza prisoners families to visit their jailed relatives

Israeli occupation authorities allowed on Monday scores of Gaza prisoners' families to visit their jailed relatives held in Rimon prison in Negev, south Israel.

Some 80 family members of the prisoners, including 17 children, went through Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing north of the Strip to visit 44 Palestinian prisoners in Rimon prison, Suheir Zaqout, media spokesperson of the Red Cross ,said in press statements.

There are 6,000 Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prisons, 400 of them are from the Gaza Strip.

Israel has resumed family visit program for the Gaza Strip prisoners after banning such visits for nearly six years, following the signing of an agreement between the Palestinian Captive authorities and Israeli prison administration under an Egyptian auspices after the prisoners started a hunger strike lasted for 28 days in April of 2012.
