A Palestinian official said Israel burned alive several Palestinian detainees following Nakba that falls on May 15 every year.

The period following Nakba in 1948 till 1967 was the most dangerous and terrible period against the Palestinian and Arab detainees, said Abdel-Nasser Farwana, chief statistician at the Palestinian Prisoners Ministry.

This period was characterized by random arrests and mass detention in camps that lacked the minimum of human rights, he said.

Palestinians mark the Nakba (Arabic for Catastrophe) on May 15 of every year – the date on which the state of Israel was established in 1948 on the land of historical Palestine.
