Israel lifts blockade on Ramallah, Bireh

Israel lifted on Tuesday the partial closure imposed on the West Bank cities of Ramallah and Bireh.

Thanks to the efforts of the Palestinian military liaison, barricades fencing Ramallah were removed and all roads leading to Ramallah will be re-opened, including Beit-Eil road, the head of the Palestinian liaison, Jihad Giyousi, said.

On Sunday, Israel blocked entry to Ramallah for all non-residents, just hours after a Palestinian police officer from Ramallah shot and wounded three Israelis in the area.

The decision to close off the city, which is both the West Bank's economic and political center, was made in accordance with instructions from the political echelon.
