Israeli authorities lifted on Wednesday the overall security cordon imposed on the West Bank and Gaza Strip due to celebrations of the New Jewish Year.

As of Sunday, the Israeli government prevented Palestinians from crossing into Israel from the West Bank and Gaza during the Jewish new year, Rosh Hashana, which started at sundown Sunday.

The holiday ended Tuesday night.
