Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon on Friday blasted the UN Human Rights Council's decision to adopt a resolution critical of Israel during last summer's Gaza war, saying the move was "absurd."

He said that the actions of the UNHRC "have become a farce," condemning it "even more so as this decision was made while Israel is once again under fire from an extreme Islamic terror organization," the Jerusalem Post reported.

The United Nations Human Rights Council decided on Friday to adopt a resolution condemning Israel over the UN report into its military operation in Gaza that killed hundreds and injured thousands.

Forty-one countries voted in favor of the resolution, while one country – the U.S. – voted against.
