Israeli forces detained at least 13 Palestinians during overnight raids that sparked violent confrontations in several West Bank districts.

Six Palestinians were detained from Jerusalem, two others from Bethlehem, another from Hebron, another from Nablus, another from Tulkarem, another from Qalqiliya and another from Tubas, state news agency (WAFA) reported. Meanwhile, Israeli settlers resumed on Wednesday their provocative visits to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.

Small groups of extremist settlers accompanied by an Israeli police escort broke into the site during the morning to perform rituals. Islamic Waqf guards present at the site expelled a Jewish rabbi and his grandson, after they tried to pray Talmudic prayers theirs.

The al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem has become a flashpoint of the escalating conflict in recent months.
