Syrian MIG 21

Israeli sources said that the patriot missile system downed this Tuesday morning, a Syrian MIG 21 aircraft, claiming that it was in the Israeli air space after crossing the international borders in Golani heights.
Maariv newspaper said that Israeli military spokesperson stated that the aircraft was a Syrian reconnoitering military aircraft made in Russia.
The Occupation anticipates that the aircraft entered the area by mistake, and mainly resulted from fighting between Syrian regime and rebels that dominate considerable parts of the border strip.
Israeli patriot missile system say that they monitored the aircraft and launched a rocket that drowned it.
Occupation sources claim that this was the first instance of Israel downing a Syrian jet, though the Israeli forces downed an aircraft with no pilot some weeks ago on the Golani heights. The aircraft was suspected to belong to the Lebanese Hizbullah party, after siding with the Syrian regime against the rebels.
