Israeli police have arrested dozens of Palestinian workers

Israeli police have arrested dozens of Palestinian workers from the West Bank under the pretext of being without permits.

Twenty-seven unauthorized Palestinian workers from the West Bank cities of Ramallah and Hebron were arrested while taking a tour in Tel Aviv, the Israeli police said in a statement Monday.

It added that an Israeli citizen was also arrested after police found an unauthorized Palestinian working at his store.

Two other Israelis were arrested for transporting two unauthorized Palestinians into Israel, the statement further said.'

An arrest campaign has been launched in Israel following Wednesday's armed attack carried out by two Palestinians on a mall in Tel Aviv, leaving four Israelis dead and wounding others.

About 100,000 Palestinians from the West Bank are working in Israel and only 40 percent of those have permits, according to Israeli statistics.
