The lawyer of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, Kareem Ajwah, stated that the two striking detainees at Ashkelon prison; Nasr Abu-hmaid, who is sentenced to life imprisonment and the sick detainee Saed Musallam were attacked by the repressive forces of the prisons’ administration.
The forces have stormed into the detainees’ rooms and assaulted them for refusing to stand for a search. As a result, five detainees were injured on the face and head, and they were moved to the clinic of the prison.
The Media Committee_ Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian prisoners’ society, stated that the lawyer of the Commission, Kareem Ajwah has quoted the testimony of the detainee Nasr Abu- hmaid in a visit to the prison today.
Abu-hmaid stated: “the condition of striking detainees are very difficult, due to the continued daily raids and storms of the prisons’ administration in an attempt to exhaust and humiliate them”.
He added “the prisons’ administration conducted internal trails for striking detainees, and imposed punitive measures and fines up to 500 NIS for each detainee, in addition to moving them to the solitary confinement for ten days. Moreover, they took away the salt from all striking detainees as a means of pressure to end the strike”.
Also he said that “the striking detainees boycott the medical examinations, where many sick detainees are in serious danger especially Nazih Othman who has heart disease, and Ibrahim Abu-mustafa who has kidney and liver diseases.
They both were moved by force to the hospitals and clinics of the prison”.
The lawyer, Ajwah, has mentioned that the sick detainee Saed Musallam, who suffers from heart diseases, was moved to Barzlai Hospital several times due to the severe fatigue. He remained at hospital for six days.
