Sheikh Mohammad Hussein

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Holy Land, Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, strongly condemned the Israeli occupation authorities' decision to close the Ibrahimi Mosque in the West Bank city of Hebron to Muslim worshipers next Sunday and Monday.
The Mufti said in a statement on Thursday that this closure indicates a religious war is being carried out by the occupation authorities on Islamic holy sites in Palestine, where they have closed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque and prevented Muslims from entering and praying while settlers have stormed in and performed their religious rituals.
He highlighted the fact that monotheistic religions prohibit tampering with holy sites and emphasize their sanctity.
He also stressed the need to stop such practices of organized terrorism and rejected the justifications presented by occupation authorities for the violations, adding that such actions violate international laws and conventions that protect freedom of access to places of worship.
