Ministry of Interior security spokesman Major General Mansour Al-Turki announced that Basem Ali Mohammed Al-Gidaihi, a Saudi citizen, was captured after falling injured during a fire exchange with security men in Al-Awamiyah village.
In a statement, Al-Turki said that Al-Gidaihi, who was habitually hiding and exercising his terror-related activities from his village Al-Awamiyah, was chased by security forces for having been involved in a number of terror-tied offensives, ranging from exchanging fire with police and security forces, leading a terrorist cell in Al-Awamiyah village, recruiting youths to join deviant groups, training them to use weapons, taking part in riots, and terrorizing the innocents.
Doctors in the hospital said Al-Gidaihi sustained a health setback after having received preliminary treatment while his companion, also injured in the battle, looks stable.
In a pursuant statement to Saudi TV Channel I, Al-Turki corrected a previous report that Al-Gidaihi was on the 23-member list of the most wanted by security forces in Saudi Arabia for terror links.
However, the man was engaged in a number of crimes of disorder and law-breaking, the security spokesman said.
Al-Turki paid tribute to the people of Al-Awamiyah for proving cooperative and loyal to the law enforcement authorities in Saudi Arabia, calling on the other wanted on the list to turn themselves up to the authorities.
