Ramallah - Arab Today
The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) called for confronting attempts of the Israeli government to divide Al Aqsa Mosque in al Quds (occupied East Jerusalem).
At an emergency meeting on Tuesday, the committee hailed efforts exerted by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at all levels especially his contacts with the leaders of Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia as well as the Arab League, the UN, the US and Russia to abort the Israeli schemes.
Earlier in the day, about 36 Palestinians were injured when clashes erupted with Israeli occupation forces at Al Aqsa holy mosque's compound.
During the third consecutive day of violent clashes at Al Aqsa, the Israeli forces stormed the compound and damaged the doors of the southern Mosque.
Israeli forces stormed the compound via al Maghariba Gate and assaulted Palestinian worshipers, fired stun grenades, tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets at them.
