Palestinian young man injured by Israeli fire

A Palestinian young man was injured after Israeli occupation forces opened fire at him in eastern Gaza city, local sources said on Friday.

The young man sustained medium injuries and was moved to Al Shifa Hospital in eastern Gaza city for receiving treatment, the medical sources added.

Following disengagement from the Gaza Strip in September 2005, Israel unilaterally and illegally established a so-called "buffer zone", an area prohibited to Palestinians along the land and sea borders of the Gaza Strip.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), 17 percent of Gaza's total land area and 35 percent of its agricultural land lie within the buffer zone as of 2010, directly affecting the lives and livelihoods of more than 100,000 Gaza residents.
