A US Department of Defense agency says South Korea plans tobuy next generation short-range air-to-air missiles from the United States.The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said that the State Department approvedthe sale of the missiles and related equipment.South Korea aims to purchase 76 AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder Missiles and eightmissile-guidance systems for around 98 million dollars, according to Korea’s(KBSWORLD)website. Sidewinder missiles are fired from fighter jets and have enhanced detection andcontrol capabilities.
