Thousands of civilians fearing attacks by Tuareg rebels in Mali have fled to neighboring countries, broadcaster Radio France International (RFI) reported on Monday. More than 6,000 refugees have crossed into Mauritania or are waiting near the border, while 5,000 have fled to Algeria, RFI said. Some of those fleeing were Tuareg civilians fearing reprisal attacks, it added. Last week, the International Committee of the Red Cross said nearly 10,000 people had fled to Niger, according to a report of DPA.
