US Vice-President Joe Biden

The U.S. negotiators will meet Iranian officials in Geneva on Thursday to resume talks on Iranian nuclear issue, the U.S. State Department said.
The U.S. delegation will be led by Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns and also includes Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and Jake Sullivan, national security adviser to Vice President Joseph Biden, the State Department said in a statement.
The United States and its allies accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons, but Teheran insists its nuclear programs are solely for civilian use.
The P5+1, comprised of the United States, China, France, Russia, Britain and Germany, and Iran failed to meet the deadline of July 20 to reach a comprehensive agreement, but agreed to extend the talks until Nov.24.
It is unclear whether Burns, who plans to retire in October, and Sullivan, who is going to join Yale University as a lecturer, would play any role in the talks after they leave the Obama administration.
