The US state Department strongly rejected the new Israeli government's stance approving to build 900 new settlements in East Jerusalem.

US State Department Acting Deputy spokesman Jeff Rathke described the step as disappointing.

Speaking to reporters, the US official said that the Israeli leaders asserted that they stick to the two-state solution, calling on the new Israeli government to meet their commitments.
