Spokesman of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Mahmoud al Shami on Sunday said negotiations with French coach Herve Renard to lead the national team reached advanced stages.
Shami told MENA Renard received several offers from Qatari clubs, but his negotiations with the EFA reached an advanced stage.
Belgian Georges Leekens will be our alternative choice, Shami said.
The new coach will replace Shawki Gharib who resigned in November after failing to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
