An airline employee was shot dead in a parking lot outside Oklahoma City's main airport last night

An airline employee was shot dead in a parking lot outside Oklahoma City's main airport last night, prompting authorities to stop all flights and place the airport on lockdown.

The Oklahoma City Police Department said the victim had worked for Southwest Airlines. Will Rogers Airport remained closed hours after the shooting, but police then tweeted that they would begin moving people out of the terminal.

After hours-long manhunt, the suspect in the fatal shooting was found dead. The body of the unidentified man had been found with a gunshot wound to the head in a pick-up truck in the car park of Will Rogers Airport, police spokesman Paco Balderrama said.

Normal operations had resumed, he added, and flights were restarting after police completed a search of the terminal. Departing and arriving flights remained suspended as police were sweeping the terminal searching for the gunman.

Will Rogers Airport is about 8 kilometers from Oklahoma City, which is the capital of Oklahoma.
