Thirteen crew members of a Japanese fishing boat were missing in the Pacific Ocean Monday following a collision with a cargo vessel, the coast guard said. The incident, off eastern Japan early Monday, involved the 119-ton fishing boat Horiei Maru, which had a crew of 17 Japanese and five trainee Indonesians, and the 25,047-ton Panama-registered Nikkei Tiger about 560 miles east of Miyagi prefecture, Kyodo News reported, quoting the Coast Guard. The news agency said the other nine fishing boat crew members -- five Japanese and four Indonesians -- were rescued by another fishing boat about 5 hours later. The search for the missing was continuing. Further details of the maritime mishap were not available.
