Twenty two miners were trapped in a coal mine accident in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, said the rescuers Wednesday.

    The accident happened on Tuesday in Qitaihe city. Rescue work is underway.

    Cause of the accident is being investigated, (Xinhua) news agency reported. China is the world's biggest consumer and producer of coal. Coal production was 3.68 billion tons in 2015, or 47% of the world's total.
