Police in Texas said three men died when a vehicle carrying undocumented immigrants sank in the pond during a police chase Thursday. At least 13 suspected undocumented immigrants were in the sport utility vehicle in Wilson County when a sheriff's deputy tried to pull the vehicle over about 2 a.m. Thursday. Police said a headlight on the vehicle was not working, the San Antonio Express-News reported. The driver sped off but only traveled about 1 mile before the SUV ran off the road, across ranch land and into a pond, Wilson County Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. told reporters at the scene. Tackitt said the driver of the SUV faces possible manslaughter charges. He said investigators didn't know who owns the vehicle or where it was taking the occupants. The newspaper said the occupants may be from Guatemala and were suspected of being in the United States illegally. All 10 survivors were taken into custody.
