A child playing with a lighter was blamed for starting a fire in a New York City high-rise that injured 37 people, including three seriously, authorities said. It took 135 firefighters more than 2 hours to contain the three-alarm blaze in the 27-story South Bronx apartment building, the New York Daily News reported. Among the most seriously injured victims was a 1-year-old girl, Jane Ferreida, and her parents, Miguel Ferreida and Ani De La Cruz, the newspaper said. The Daily News\' sources said the fire started about 7:40 a.m. EDT in a fifth-floor unit. \"I had to wake up to my apartment filling up with smoke,\" said Angela Arcelay, who was home with her 12-year-old daughter. \"Me and my daughter said goodbye to each other. We thought we were going to die.\" Five firefighters and two emergency medical workers were among those hurt.
