Five people were killed in an attack carried out by "Boko Haram" group on a Nigerian immigration staff

Five people were killed in an attack carried out by "Boko Haram" group on a Nigerian immigration staff and traders convoy who were on their way to Maiduguri in the northeast of the country.

A military source said in a statement today that the five dead were killed when Boko Haram elements ambushed the convoy in Gamburo on the border with Cameroon and shot the staff and traders.

The same source said that three immigration officers were injured in the attack but managed to escape, adding that five traders were killed and their trucks burned.

The road between Maiduguri and Gamboru, on the border with Cameroon, which is a trade route for the two countries was reopened by the Nigerian authorities two months ago after it was closed due to Boko Haram attacks.
