An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted northern Peru at 15:06:17 GMT on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey, monitored here, said. The epicenter, with a depth of 22.80 km, was initially determined to be at 6.6604 degrees south latitude and 75.4241 degrees west longitude.
