Nine people were killed in a road accident on Tuesday in Qingzhou City in east China's Shandong Province, local authorities said.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. when a coach ran into a crowd at an outdoor market in Shaozhuang township.

Four people died on the way to the hospital, five died later in hospital, and another 14 are stable and receiving treatment, authorities said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
