At least three were killed and Cabinet minister roughed up on Thursday after attack by machete-wielding militia in Kenya\'s coastal town of Kilifi. Divisional police commander, Clement Wangai confirmed the incident, saying the three were killed after mob disrupted the meeting which was being addressed by Fisheries Minister Amason Kingi in Mtwapa in Kilifi County. \"The minister\'s bodyguards were injured including local politician and have been rushed to the hospital. The minister was attacked when holding a meeting in Mtwapa,\" Wangai told Xinhua by telephone. Sources said Kingi who opposes the Mombasa Republic Counci (MRC) \' s call for secession of the coastal region however escaped unhurt in the incident, which occurred after a gang suspected to belong to MRC disrupted the meeting. Analysts have warned that Kenya faces challenges related to resurgence of militias such as the MRC and the potential threats they posed to the forthcoming elections and the internal risks to stability posed by Kenya\'s external war on the Al-Shabaab in Somalia.
