At least three people were confirmed dead and eight others injured following an explosion in a petroleum refinery in Jilin province's Songyuan city, north eastern of China, local authorities announced.
According to the Chinese new agency (Xinhua), firefighters had to evacuate the nearly 3,000 local residents before bringing the blaze under control, adding that investigation into the cause of the blast is still underway.
