Following the flash floods which hit Colorado, USA eight people have been confirmed dead and at least 600 homes have been destroyed. The floods, caused by heavy rain, have led to the evacuation of more than 12,000 people to emergency shelters. Following the flooding, the investigation has been underway, locals said. The catastrophic disaster affected 17 Colorado counties including Larimer and Boulder. Helicopters kept hovering over the mountain-sides to drop supplies and airlifted thousands and many of the evacuees were ferried by military vehicles. US Federal Emergency Management Agency said in an offical statement on its website that up to 12,000 people had been evacuated to shelters and more than a thousand of them were evacuated in Larimer which was declared as the most affected county. 4,500 homes were damaged in the aftermath of the disaster and 200 businesses have been lost. At least 100 houses have been destroyed, said local officals.
