Downpour-triggered landslide kills 35 in northwest China

A landslide triggered by heavy rains has killed 35 people in a mountainous village in northwestern China.

The landslide engulfed the village in the region of Xinjiang's Kashgar prefecture on Wednesday morning, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.

Heavy rains caused serious damage to parts of the area's highways, the report said.
