A small airplane crashed in Spotsylvania County, Va., Saturday evening, killing a father and son, authorities said. Virginia State Police said the aircraft went down after taking off from Shannon Airport near Fredericksburg, PotomacLocal.com reported. No residences were struck and no one on the ground was injured, the news website said. The Washington Post reported State Police identified the victims as John B. Morton Jr., 48, of Stafford County, Va, and Kyle J. Morton, 13, The Washington Post reported. Police said the father had been working on the Cessna 150M and conducting takeoffs and landings at the airport, the newspaper said.
