A 37-year-old man caused a partial evacuation of Germany's Frankfurt Airport on Saturday evening after telling police that he had explosives in his baggage, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, DPA, has reported.
The incident saw part of the airport's Terminal 1, as well as a connecting area to a high-speed train station, cleared for 90 minutes, police said in a statement.
Federal police arrested the man and investigated his baggage, which contained computer parts and a gas canister.
The man, who currently is forbidden from leaving Germany as he is suspected of fleeing the scene of a traffic offence, is already known to police, the statement said.
He has reportedly been involved in similar incidents in the past and is now being admitted to a psychiatric clinic.
Travellers were in no danger at any time during the incident, police said, according to DPA.
