Fiji\'s Department of Mineral Resources confirmed here Friday that a 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit 453 kilometers south-southeast of the capital city Suva early this morning, as Xinhua reported. The department said there was no destructive widespread tsunami threat for the island nation. According to the department, the earthquake took place at around 7.30 a.m. local time at a depth of 617 kilometers in the ocean. Many people did not feel the major earthquake and the everything is normal here in the country. Earlier, the U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was at a depth of about 626 kilometers. It was initially determined to be at 21.56 degrees south latitude and 179.37 degrees west longitude.
