The national Sacred Defense Week ceremonies started Thursday morning with the parade of different units of the country’s armed forces in southern Tehran. The ceremony is participated by senior military and government officials as well as foreign diplomats, military attaches and foreign and domestic reporters and photo journalists. The ceremony is being held at the mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini. September 22 is the start of the Sacred Defense Week in Iran which marks the anniversary of the beginning of Iraq’s eight-year imposed war against the Islamic Republic in 1979. Meanwhile, different exemplary units of the armed forces including the Army, the IRGC and the Police are to display their latest defensive equipment during the ceremony.
