One person was killed and 16 others were wounded late Monday in a homemade bomb explosion at a market in the province of Pattani in southern Thailand.

    The explosion occurred at the entrance to the evening market in the provincial capital city of Pattani. A woman was killed and 16 others were wounded including five children. All the wounded were taken to the city hospital, the Bangkok Post newspaper reported.

    The police said that the investigations are underway. However, it was not clear whether the attack was an act of terrorism.
