There is no reason to believe that Daesh leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi is not alive even though we haven't heard of him since late last year, US envoy to the anti-Daesh coalition Brett McGurk told a daily briefing at the White House.

"We presume that he's still alive," he added. "It's really a matter of time for him." 

Earlier in the day, reports said that the Daesh leader was injured in an air strike in northern Iraq.

However, these reports have not been confirmed yet.
