Tea tree oil, or melaleuca oil is a natural antibacterial disinfectant that is commonly used as a general antiseptic. It is a pale yellow colour to nearly colorless and clear essential oil with a fresh camphoraceous odor. It is produced by steaming Melaleuca alternifolia leaves. Scientists have observed that it has antifungal, antiviral, antibiotic and antiseptic properties in it, and that is why it is a very medicinal plant. It has also been observed that it is used to make medicines for coughs and cold. It can be used to treat skin problems like acne. Acne is one of the most tackled skin problem that has been faced by every individual and they have become treats in our lives. Tea tree oil helps in the renewal of the skin and removal of dirt and dead skin cells. The oil is used in the production of facial cleansers, soaps and other ones. When applied on acne, tea tree oil helps the immune system to kill the bacteria and consequently reduce the inflammation. Using Tea Tree Oil in conjunction with Vitamin E supplements (an anti-oxidant) and an excellent healing agent, can not only heal the blemishes but also cure scar tissues. Tea Tree Oil is an excellent natural remedy for hundreds of bacterial and fungal skin ailments such as acne, abscess, oily skin, blisters, sun burns, athlete`s foot, warts, herpes, insect bites, rashes, dandruff and other minor wounds and irritations. It will be kinder to your face than most other commercial treatments. The trick may be in learning how to apply it correctly: - Test your sensitivity first by applying a couple drops of tea tree oil to the inside of your forearm with a cotton swab. - If there was some irritation you could still use the tea tree oil, but in a diluted form: five drops tea tree oil with five drops water (or a 50 percent dilution). Retest until you find a dilution that works for you. - Gently wash your face and then saturate your cotton swab with your tea tree oil solution. Apply this directly to your problem area, and leave it (no rinsing). Do this once in the morning and once at night.
