A USD 200,000 donation from people in Kuwait has helped in funding a school for Syrian refugees in northern Lebanon, said Al-Rahma international society Wednesday.
Head of Al-Rahma society's Lebanon bureau Ashraf Al-Bakri told KUNA that the school, located in the northern town of Al-Qalamoun, would house around 150 students on a daily basis, noting that the donation will be used to provide the necessary materials and facilities for students to carry on their education.
Al-Bakri said that education was as necessary as any other kind of humanitarian assistance because through education there was still hope for the future.
According to recent statistics in Lebanon, 75 percent of Syrian children refugees in Syria are deprived of education.
Kuwaiti charitable societies had provided previously assistance to Syrian refugees, making sure their children received proper education.
