The Arab League (AL) on Sunday condemned a decision by the Israeli government to legitimize the settlement outposts.

A statement by the AL Department of Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories said such decisions represent war crimes that shall be prosecuted.

The fresh decision is part of an Israeli systematic plan to destroy any chance to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East and establish an independent Palestinian state with al Quds as its capital in accordance with the decisions of international legitimacy, the statement said.

This decision reaffirms the Israeli government's determination to continue its serious violations of the law and the will of the international community, it added.

The AL affirmed the responsibility of the UN Security Council in the first place to take effective and urgent actions to stop the Israeli settlements and to provide protection to the Palestinian people.
