The Arab League condemned Israel's chairmanship of the Sixth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly concerning legal aspects.

In a statement, the Arab League's Palestine and occupied Arab lands sector said Israel's chairmanship of the committee is a disaster and contradicts the mission of its chair and logic as it is a country occupying Palestinian and Arab territories.

Israel, the occupying force, is not qualified to take up this role under international legitimacy resolutions, specifically relevant UN resolutions, it said.
