Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma denounced the suicide attacks in the Saudi Kingdom that took place on Monday.
In a statement issued by the commission, Zuma described the attack at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina as an assault on Islam and innocent worshippers. She expressed her condolences to the families of the deceased.
Zuma stressed that this cowardly attacks are further illustration of the seriousness of the threat of terrorism to humanity and reiterated the AU’s full solidarity with the Saudi government and people
She reaffirmed the AU’s strong rejection of all acts of terrorism and violent extremism and reiterates the AU’s commitment to continue working with Saudi Arabia, and the international community, in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. In this regard, she called for enhanced global cooperation in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
