Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa on Friday condemned a terror attack on a security checkpoint in Sinai that left 12 soldiers dead earlier in the day.

In a statement, the minister said the Egyptian people should stand together to uproot the threat of terrorism.

Six other servicemen were injured when an armed group attacked the checkpoint in North Sinai.

Also, up to 15 terrorists were killed.
