Al Azhar condemned on Wednesday the burning of a mosque in Baghdad at the hands of sectarian militias.

"Such prohibited acts resemble crimes committed by Daesh group," Azhar said in a statement.

It also called on all religious authorities to issue fatwas condemning the killing of innocent people.

Perpetrators of such attacks should be brought to trial, the statement read.

Azhar urged the Iraqi people to reunite to foil plots targeting security and stability of Iraq.
