Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb offered on Thursday his deep condolences to the Indonesian government and people over the victims of the Sumatra earthquake.

On Wednesday, a powerful earthquake hit Aceh province near the island of Sumatra in western the country.

The 6.5-magnitude quake left at least 100 people dead and 270 others injured.
