The German Foreign Ministry voiced regret over Israel's decision to appropriate a large swathes of fertile lands in the occupied West Bank, near Jericho.

In a statement Monday, the Foreign Ministry said that the stance of the German government is known, adding that it considers building settlements in occupied lands as a violation of international law.

The settlements negatively affect the peace process and pose a threat to a two-state solution, it added.
