Al Azhar's Islamic Research Academy condemned the terrorist attack that took place Thursday morning in Arish when gunmen opened fire on a security force in el Itlawy Square.

The offensive left some security personnel dead and injured.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the academy said that such attacks will not affect the will of the Egyptian leadership or people to fight black terrorism which is stripped of all humanitarian values.

God may rest the souls of the martyrs in peace, it said in its statement, and offered condolences to their families.
